THE CHALLENGE
With seven stores across London, this upscale US-based supermarket chain was keen to have its retail spaces closely reflect the company brand and core values.
Its purpose is to “nourish people and the planet” with core values including selling the highest quality natural and organic foods and providing funding support to entrepreneurs in the world’s poorest areas.
However, the stores that the company had acquired as part of its UK expansion plan needed updating. In particular, the red painted flooring looked tired and dated, and not at all in keeping with its brand image.
It was obvious that the flooring needed to be replaced.
However, any new flooring needed to be installed across the seven stores with minimal disruption to trading.
And with heavy footfall in the shop and cafe areas, durability and ease of repair was a must.
THE SOLUTION
Flooring contractor, MDA Contracts, recommended installing magnetic Luxury Vinyl Tile (LVT) from Amtico, Karndean and Mabos using IOBAC Express Cure Resin.
These manufacturers have collections available in a variety of stone and wood-look effects, which were much more suited to the store aesthetics desired.
The resin was applied directly over the existing painted floor with minimal preparation needed. The product takes only 1-2 hours to fully cure before the magnetic top surface can be installed.
All installation work was carried out overnight over the course of 6 months, meaning the stores could be kept open throughout the works with no loss of trading.
